First Step to Full Month Preparation.
I always thought it is very Kiasu to prepare for baby's full month party even before the baby is born until Miss Ong warned me that it can get stressful to prepare only after birth when things are already to get out of hand with the newborn and being a first time parents.
She had her point, I thought. I began to hunt the web for more information.
First, favors. It has been so different nowadays. I have received many types of baby shower favors like chocolate, candies, mixed nuts, and even coffee powder etc.... They are contained either in very nice wrappers or little glass bottles or attractive gift boxes. On top of that, they do customised baby cards which allow you to have a photo and a brief information of your little princes or princesses. Also, they provide other services like creation of announcement cards or personalised gift boxes for their clients. All above would have explained the prices.
My experiences from the renovation and wedding preparation are telling me to keep things simplest. I am a mixture. I want tradition-meets-new age, and yet practical. Meaning a traditional contents and a modern presentation, yet reasonable in pricing in our opinion. Personally, I did not quite like the idea of printing my baby's photo on a baby card. In case, not all will keep it but misplace or trash the picture or to start scribbling on it. Ok, looks like I have got a very clear guide of what I want my guests to be receiving. DIY babycards? I need lots of inspiration for it. Anyway, big daddy says, money can buy creativity. We have more than enough work to handle. Haa....
Secondly, venue. I was really WOWed by those who held the celebrations in restaurants and hotels. We do not have budget for those. Probably a function hall at someone's condominium is a better idea. However, we would love to do it at our own place. Then, we are thinking of dividing the day into 2 sessions. Still, we are worrying that our place is not big enough and becomes guests overloaded. :s
So, headcount is important!
Lastly, buffet catering. Neogarden won my heart from good feedback of our guests during our wedding. Despite, pricing is a little steeper, I prefer my guests to go home with a satisfied stomach. =) Then, headcount comes into picture again.
Before that, I will be proposing all above to him and he will work out the budget! I am sure he will be more than glad to be paying and I will be more than happy to take over all the planning. ;)
Let it be stress-free! Way to go!
