a school for him at last!
Ok, I mentioned I want to talk about the feeling of the stress of going to be a mother of 2 in my last post. Let's put this till later.
I would like to share about a few thoughts on hunting a childcare for the tod.
Our requirements.
Distance.
A better school (for him).
Our reasons of sending him to a school as of his age now.
To learn not only from what the school curriculum is providing, but also from other children.
To mingle and socialise.
To have fun and to love going to school.
To becoming independent.
Have you ever wondered what is considered a better school? Will a better school be more suitable for your child? I am a Learn through Play believer. However, is there really such a school in Singapore's context? We favored 2 childcare. And made some comparison.
Amazing Star Montessori School House:
School House by The Garden:
10min drive from our place.
On waiting list! But were offered to join the school for the second half of the day this year so that we can secure a full day program next year.
Little review online.

Amazing Star Montessori School House:
Only 5-10min walk from our place.
On waiting list!
Little reviews online but I have heard raves about it in the neighbourhood.- We have a neighbour's kid who can do a 6yrs workbook at 4 yrs old. He can read and write fluently.
- Another neighbour attempted to register her daughter for K1, but the school rejected her reason being that it's too late to begin with them at K1 as she may not be able to catch up with the rest of class! Gasp!
- Great school compound and classroom layout. Clean, neat, bright and spacious.
- Montessori caught my attention immediately as we all know montessori method base on a lot of learn through play. But sad to say, there is no full fledge montessori school in Singapore. And especially not Amazing Star.
- Enforce lots of early academic teaching.
- Lucas was a little shy for a start but took only a little while to warm up.
- The children were very attentive and well behaved.

- A friend is pretty satisfied so far. No complaints. Did not really talk about how her daughter can read or write. But told me the principal and teachers are nice and friendly.
- School compound is ok with a reasonable area for play. Clean.
- The principal and teachers wearing the same top as their uniform that makes them look more cohesive and neat.
- The curriculum starts with different form of play every morning, from outdoor to indoor.
- Lucas explored the school almost immediately and started to engage with the teachers.
- The children were looking curiously at us, some smiling and some waving.
I think there is no best school after all but which is more suitable. At the end of the day, it was exactly Lucas's reaction that we knew the decision, which I do not think it is difficult to guess. We were glad. Indeed, we prefer the later too except it is not the most convenient.
Good Luck to our boy! He is starting school REAL SOON!!!!
