Morning Routine Chart for 4 Years Old

Ever I read from articles online that 4 years old kids are sucker for routine. That made me decided to make routine charts. My sentiments tell me routines are very important, so they are not confused. It is not easy to have a fix one at home because of our irregular working hours but I know I have to start from somewhere. Thus, I made a simple one, using his photos thinking that he can relate better.

It sparked a little friendly debate in one of my whatsapp groupchats with a group of good friends. One of them felt this is military, and thought they should understand it eventually. I thought I was the least military style parents in town! As I explained how it helps me to make my morning rush so much smoother, then it also made me realize, what is there for him to understand? There is no complication here at all, isn't it? It's like you give them puzzle, they have difficult fixing it at the beginning. As you leave them alone to play with it more often, they start to be familiar and eventually they can even do it without needing to look at the picture.

Ultimately, this is a guide to him to get things done settling into this routine on his own and for me to get myself ready in peace.

How did he fair? It has been the 4th day. He still shows enthusiastic about this chart. He does a check after every action. At times, when he got drawn away by other stuffs, I would remind him what is he supposed to do next and he will get back to complete the task. The tremendous difference is waking him up becomes so much smoother. He used to moan and groan about waking up and not wanting to school, and run back to bed after washing up and reluctant to get changed. However, these 4 days, he was all the opposite! Let's cross fingers and see how long will it last.
