Occupied Sunday at Home

We spent a very occupied Sunday at home. The children did not really settle down for a good 15 min except Leanne when she took her nap for a good 2 hours. By evening, I was near half dead but it felt so good with time well spent.

It was the usual routine like every morning, just that we dragged and lazed, took it slower as there is usually no morning activities on Sunday unless pre-planned. The kids had their breakfast and spent their morning wandering in the house. Leanne idolises her brother so much, she practically imitates whatever the big brother does. It was such fun to watch them at a side.

Like every other Sunday, I tried to make a little something with Lucas, be it baking, arts and crafts, etc. No difference, today we took the idea from Mister Maker "Frame it", where Mister Maker makes something 'ever so good' that the viewers will be able to Frame It.

As you can see it is music related. Lucas has started playing piano since beginning of this year and hubby and I felt that Leanne is quite musically inclined, perhaps due to the stimulation by her brother since she was a baby. Thus, framing something related should be quite encouraging, I thought. So, first we drew the outline of the musical note on parchment paper that we would like to frame.

Then, we tore the magazine pages into smaller pieces and pasted them over the musical note.

Don't worry about covering the picture, turn the parchment paper over, you can still see the outline and cut accordingly. Paste the cut out on the background (we chose yellow in this case) and.. Frame it!

There it goes! A simple and low cost decoration for the corner. The washi tapes look a little "extra" in this case. But the great thing about washi tape is that it does not tear if I decided to remove them one day. Lucas did not manage to sit through the whole craft session. He went away after tearing and pasting the magazines, leaving me alone to complete the rest.

Here's where I found him, at his table cutting, pasting, tearing away. Again, Leanne can be found almost wherever her brother is.

After the "hard work" early morning, the kids get a little snacks followed by showers and lunch, also a short tv session in between.

When Leanne took her nap, I baked "thin" scones, while Lucas was playing with play doh on his own. These scones were baked for visitors during tea. The kids went on playing among themselves till dinner, perhaps the longest record of them playing together at the moment.

The whole day felt like an unplanned routine, which is needed especially when the husband is not around.

To end with this post, a snap shot of what he did earlier on at his table.

He made a Monster Dinosaur.

Have a surprising week ahead!
