Growing through Arts Fun

Image
Leanne has been drawing and coloring a lot. She would make a fuss if she didn't get things right the way she wanted or thought that it's purely ugly. She would crushed the paper and threw on the floor, which ended up get scolded by me! To help her, I chanced upon Art For Kids Hub on YouTube. The kids followed the instructor without being helped. And they are allow to put in their own creativity. The videos often end with 2 same picture but different, yet both are equally awesome! Once, she watched a few videos with me on my laptop. Hence, I took the opportunity to share with her that never one time both drawings are the same. Our artful days have been smooth after that. She's proud of her work and mine too!

Sunday Staple. Fireworks with Fork Painting.

Oh it's Sunday again. On Sunday, our helper is off duty. It's a day I dedicate the time to my family and the chores. Also, not forgetting bringing them to swim. Normally, I will always try to squeeze in time before their swim for some activities. It can be painting, simple craft works, or experiments, which require my guidance. On lazier Sundays, I will leave them alone with water play, play dough, or any activities that that can be on their own for a good 15min at least. It can be kind of a mad rush as I also prepare breakfast, sometimes lunch and that include clearing the dishes. On a smooth Sunday, I truly enjoy this kind of havoc at home. It gets quieter after their swim as the little one will nap while the elder one will have his movie afternoon, usually with his daddy. Sunday is probably the junkiest, as the kids get to snack on anything. Just before dinner, and if we are not too tired, we head out for some fun in the park. Today, I made soup for a family gathering in...

Occupied Sunday at Home

Image
We spent a very occupied Sunday at home. The children did not really settle down for a good 15 min except Leanne when she took her nap for a good 2 hours. By evening, I was near half dead but it felt so good with time well spent. It was the usual routine like every morning, just that we dragged and lazed, took it slower as there is usually no morning activities on Sunday unless pre-planned. The kids had their breakfast and spent their morning wandering in the house. Leanne idolises her brother so much, she practically imitates whatever the big brother does. It was such fun to watch them at a side. Like every other Sunday, I tried to make a little something with Lucas, be it baking, arts and crafts, etc. No difference, today we took the idea from Mister Maker "Frame it",  where Mister Maker makes something 'ever so good' that the viewers will be able to Frame It.  As you can see it is music related. Lucas has started playing piano since beginning of this year...

Crafty and busy stayed-home weekends.

Last Sunday, we chose to stay at home. Since daddy was not at home, Lucas is still recovering from his fever and Leanne still needs some extra attention to her wound. It can get overwhelmed with 2 kids making so much noises, happy laughter, grouch or whines. And to refrain from too much tv time to keep both of them sane (the adults too), we had to separate them for their own activities or to have activities that both of them can play well together.  So while my helper took Leanne to play, I kept Lucas busy in the kitchen.  We did this frequently, but this time he took charge following my instructions. I prepared all ingredients while he poured whatever I gave to him, and he's supposed to tell me whenever he thinks it's ready for the next ingredient. He was very serious about it indeed. The cake turned out to be a little soggy. Doesn't look undercook, or maybe overbeaten. However, it tasted great. And he gets to enjoyed a teeny bit because we restricted  h...

Sunday-s

Image
Work plus the 4 months old, I have less than little time with him. He woke up to child care and when he is home, it is the time we started to get busy handling two kids, especially when there is only one of us. If our parents are here, then they will be the one handling the 2 kids while we quickly whip up as much chores as possible.  Many times we resort to turning on his favorite cartoon, which totally draw his attention away and keep the baby quiet for a little while. That's when we also quickly do what we need to, like making dinner, have a quick bite, etc. Sunday is my off day! Weekends is precious ever since he started school. We made some efforts to create activities focused on him. Last Sunday was a great example as we did many things together that normally will require a few Sundays to do. He woke up early even on Sunday. So while the big daddy and little sister is still snoozing.. We read some Chinese books together. Followed by making a small project that...

Off Days, a little too overwhelmed.

Image
It was not easy to stay focus and patience was running short. Like last night, we had a very random gathering at our place, I always love crowds and to host a gathering. However, it was not really pleasant to the ears (mine only, perhaps) when my mum and my aunty were fussing over the amount of chilli to be served over a steamboat. On some days, it got a little too much when all happened at one time. The parents having arguments over little things in life, hubby forever complaining about things around him, the comments on the news were never ending of anti government or how they were unhappy with the current society, then the clinging toddler crying for you when you are having dinner. It really made me feel like snapping at everyone. It took me 3 deep thoughts to calm down- keep calm! keep calm! keep calm! Quickly gobbled down my food, I found a place to diversify my energy. I started to build blocks and train tracks with the children. For all the grumbles of others, I just turne...
