Contentment balanced life.

Image
15 more minutes to work. I am sitting in Dome for a cappuccino before open sesame. Last week, I considered that I had a balanced life. Other than the usual work, I get to learn more new tricks, had a great time gathering with more fun-loving peeps, cracking jokes over beer on.... Errmmmm ok.. Nvm. I have not been making meals for the hubby for awhile, so I made some Southern Sausage Stew, which my cousin has always been asking to try. Perhaps i used low-sodium broth, it seemed to be a little lacking in taste. Nonetheless, the hubby found it alright and cleared his plate. Lucas had his share with the gravy over rice and topped with some pan fried teriyaki cod. I longed to make homemade ice cream. Recently, the facebook peeps have been going gaga over it. They shared too many yummilicious ice cream photos that I could not resist from trying. Coincidentally, some food blogs I follow were also introducing ice cream, thus it's a sign. Honey Mango is in season now. So mango ice c...

23.06.2010 A Fruitful Day.

Image
It was a long and fruitful off day for me. We wanted to go for a nice meal before the actual activity began. We were planning to have lunch at Cocotte , however, we- all 3 of us- woke up too late before they closed for their first half of the day. I suggested Cafe Hacienda since they do not close in between and I miss their beef cheeks pita wrap since the last visit for Yen's birthday. And it's very much on the way to our actual venue today, we headed towards it. While I was happily thinking of what to order for lunch later, and even happier to be at Dempsey with him (because it's very difficult to get him to bring us to places), it was really a GREAT disappointment to see Cafe Hacienda was closed for renovation. :~( As time was running out, we ended up settling our lunch at IKEA, Alexandra. Filling us up with grilled chicken, chicken wings and meatballs. How nice huh? Lucas had his huge share of bun after his porridge. Sometimes, we were glad he is active, else, he ...

Homemade Pancake.

Image
I was googling on buttermilk and it brought me to a forum. One member shared a really simple pancake recipe! It takes only about 5min to prepare and another 5 to cook. It is better than the one taken from allrecipe in terms of taste, look and presentation. Pancake batter 3/4 cup all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tbsp sugar (which I omitted) 1 egg 25g butter, melted 3/4 cup buttermilk Mix flour, baking soda and sugar. Sieve flour if possible, for more fluffiness. Make a well in the center, gradually mix egg and butter till it's blended with the flour mixture then stir in buttermilk making sure there's no lump. Simply heat up a lightly grease flying pan and pour batter into it. I use 1 scoop of large soup ladle for each pancake. Once the batter starts to bubble, flip it over and place in the heat for another couple minutes. Wala! Dribble with maple syrup and add some fruits of your choice! Yum yum...

Homecook yumz.

Too much outside food made me sick. A simple home-cooked food delighted me. It's not a sumptuous meal but it meant a great a deal. Mum woke up in the morning to make this and sent it to me before I leave home for work, to make sure I have some healthy home-cooked food occasionally. :) ~*~~*~ So much on Japan lately. It ached hearts watching the news and footages. I wish I could have everyone with me if it's going to happen in Singapore. But I can't. I love you, everyone.

Soaked.Egg Benedict.Stew Beef

When all have been well, it has also been testing my energy. With so many things in mind and so much things to do everyday, I do not really have the time to sit down and ponder and time just passed by. Is it my working hours? Is it my time management? Is it Lucas? The amazing thing after I have become a mother is that I do not know when my energy will be depleted cause it keeps coming and refilling everytime I thought I am giving up. I guess it's all about Love and what you want to give to your child and/ or family. 20th Feb 2011 was one of the great day and especially it falls on a lovely Sunday. Dempsey, Hacienda cafe, egg benedict, girlfriends (the company that really matters), mahjong, dinner, yakking.... It's good enough to keep me mesmerized over a few days. Am looking forward to more... And talking about the egg benedict at cafe Hacienda, it was delicious. I attempted to create my own egg benedict for our breakfast and just, before he left for his flight. Yes, I se...

Burnt Food.Mischievous Baby

Image
I had whipped up the ingredients in my fridge few days back. What a disappointment that the roast vegetables and sausage was burnt. Only the salmon was still moist and nice, the chicken wings has become skinny wings. :( Was deceived by the look of the wings in the oven- the uncook look. Thus, I left it to roast longer and it had juiced the wings. I could even chew on the bones. Ha! Look at how Chao Ta the sausages were. My little terror has been up to no good. He is beginning to show his tricks and made me fell into his trap. He knows the study area is restricted, but he loves crawling to the edge of the platform and make a turn, as if he is coming into his restricted zone. But instead, he quickly crawled away each time I turned and let out my first warning, then looked back to give me a cheeky smile. -.- Recently, he likes to hide himself behind something and stretch his neck to capture our attention. When you caught him, he will screech, laugh or grin,  then he moved hi...

Drop Scone

Image
Lucas loves bread. Our parents have been feeding him bread spontaneously. My mum fed him bread from Yakun and swear it's only the bread and no kaya nor butter. And one day, I learnt that my in-law is feeding him cheese bun from the bakery shop. Thus, I nicely told her to stop feeding him that as it's much higher in sugar content like the glaze and even the cheese tasted sweet, or she could switch to white bread, with dip of milk (optional). Remember that BLW Cookbook in my previous post? I came across a simple recipe of drop scone. Only flour, egg and milk for that matter, simply mixed the ingredient, drop and fry. I made them on one night and brought it to our parents and encouraged them to give it to him as snack. It's pretty convenient as breakfast for me or us. He spread his nutella, and jam for me. No breadcrumbs to attract the detestable ants. And small enough to finish in 2 bites. Ideal for a rushing mummy like me... Tomorrow, I have a bit more time at home. I am go...

Baby Led Weaning

Image
Lucas is turning 8 months end of December. How time flies! He is having semi-solid for 1.5months. I am introducing  Baby Led Weaning  partially. Not sure if it is getting common in Singapore but because we met a mummy from the UK in the forum, and that's where I learn about BLW. In brief, it involves no puree and introducing finger food to your baby when they are ready. Why partially? It's because it's time consuming and it can get VERY messy, especially banana! I have given him broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, pieces of meat, apples, pears, prunes and even puree.... It is very fun to watch. In the beginning, when his princer grip still wasn't that good, Lucas will comb through his hair or clean himself with the food in his hands. He is much better now. At least, his aiming gets better... the messiness is  lessened. He still drops his food though. Watch him munch the pear. He actually finished half of what he is holding onto. BLW in the WWW says, it also encou...
