Diapers, no more!

Image
At the beginning of this year, 3 months in childcare, one month before she turned 3, she decided that she was ready to go diapers-less in the day. She had requested to sleep without one, which I declined, except nap time. She has really shown me how amazing a child can be, when being left to achieve their milestone at their own pace. Not that I have not emphasised enough how a little surprise she is in my other social media platform, she is just fascinating like that. On one recent occasion she requested to sleep without a diaper. However, I think it's the parents- us- who are not ready. "I am a big girl already, you know?' she said. We had an agreement that she will go diaper-less completely till the very last diaper. Last night, it was official.   “我没有穿diaper睡觉。” she said that to my mum. And, the night went smooth with no accident. We cheered for night 1. Many more to come.

First Family Photoshoot

Image
Finally, we posted some images of our first ever family photo shoot. We received the raw images very soon after the shoot, next we took awhile to choose the photos, then the photographer took another while to finish editing the photos due to his super tight schedule and we took awhile to be able to meet up. I did not post these images immediately I received it as well, so the drags has taken about 9 months? I cannot believe these photos were taken in November last year. Time really flies, it seemed just like a 3 months ago. (Feeling horrified)  We took it at Botanic Garden. It was an extremely hot morning. We were tired and feeling dreadful, kids perspired like crazy, hubby wasn't in the best form. However, the photographer was really patient, and with the helper to lug the stuffs sort of relieve the tension. Under such circumstances, I am pleased with the pictures.

Blueberry Muffins

Image
Let's #throwback. I have been liking Starbucks muffin for some time and almost every flavours. However, I really like their Red Velvet and Chocolate Crumble ones. Their muffins are really moist, soft, fragrant and filled with surprise.  Like I always do, searching for a good rating with helpful comments of a simple recipe and I found this Blueberry Muffin recipe . Like most who commented, this recipe makes blueberry muffins that taste really good and not very sweet. Also from one of the comments, I added streudel topping, just like the Starbucks ones! The most important thing is that this is really easy to make! A 2.5 years can, so can you.  5 is such a wonderful age, they can get the hang of almost everything!  I can't wait to bake this again and explore other flavours using the same recipe. The kids love it very much, so do I! For Streudel Topping (attained from of the comments) 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar (I replace with brow...

Homemade Pizza

Image
We have always been up to something on Sundays. I haven't been very adventurous with the kids when it comes to cooking, it was most of time pancake that we were making and I realised I haven't shared it here before. For pancake, I always go to this recipe . It has never failed me. On one Sunday, we made pizza and I only decided to do so because I found this really simple recipe online. I tend to look for "easy" recipe so its easy for kids. A homemade hawaiian pizza it is. So here are the recipe for the dough. Less the toppings and tomato paste. Kids putting the toppings over the pizza. For such simple and fun way of making pizza, it definitely tasted delicious! It's always a favourite for the kids. Lucas finished almost half of it! No kidding!

Precious Girl is 2.

Image
This girl has turned 2 one month ago. It's unbelievable that she was still a baby who does not respond much and still very babyish even when she started walking at around 15months old. Today, she can verbalise her thoughts so much that we were amused almost every day. She cried when her brother goes to school and very reluctant to let us go to work. She loves food by nature and anything that she ate just double up yumminess of the food. She gets very demanding and holds firmly to her stand. She's helpful so far and can be really sweet at times. As her mummy, i find her eyes are her most beautiful feature, not because she has deep set eyes with double eye lid, but because they tell so much of her innocence and cutesy. Sometimes, I felt bad that our time together was not as constructive as during my time spent with Lucas, and because of the elder one, my focus on her tends to be really quick. Mummy will try to give you my best attention whenever is allowed. I can't...

Advent Calendar for this Christmas.

Image
At this age, Big Bro L is starting to have a little knowledge in reading calendar and he knows about occasions like Christmas, New Year and birthdays(of course). He has been anticipating for Christmas very much because, ever since 2 or 3  months back, we told him he's not going to receive any more presents until Christmas. So he has been talking about December and whenever we pass by a toy department after that, he is always "shortlisting" his presents.  To inject more excitement and mood to this coming Christmas, we made an advent calendar. Search through the Internet for ideas and had them pasted on walls with washi tape. However, they kept dropping whenever the wind blows, so in the end, we have our advent calendar like this. All ideas taken through Google. And as usual, we took ideas that can utilize ready materials at home and some new ones if necessary.  All were from DAISO! We also asked around for ideas to fill the calendars. We d...

Scones out of muffin pan.

Image
It's Sunday again! The day that I probably most look forward to out of 365 days. It is probably also the most tiring day of an entire week, at this period. However, also the happiest day of every week. These are all because I get to have all my time with my two precious. Well, I love Sunday too because it is probably the only day I can bake or cook something for my love ones that always make me feel a little accomplish as a mother, a wife or even a daughter. To begin with, I am not great in baking and dread all the many steps. These days, there can be found many easy and simple ingredients recipes online for almost anything you wish to do… so glad for that. Also, I have been making do with whatever is available in my kitchen. While we all know that scones are probably one of the easiest to bake with the simplest ingredient that most household would have. The most critical part is probably the rubbing-in method. However, I ever came across using metal knife and forks to do the c...

Not for the Sweet Tooth.

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin Warning!: Do not be deceived by the loveable faces in the photos that are coming up. Because they are not true…. In actual fact, the real person in disguise is:- 1) A true Drama Queen!  I really "kow tow"(take my hats off) to her crying and "manja" (seeking attention) skill. The Best Actress Winner in 20 years perhaps.  2) A Chilli Padi She bites when she senses someone is coming into her territory. Beware of loud screeches. Get ready your ear plugs at all times.  3) A Penguin Further explanation not needed. Truthfully, she's simply too adorable in whichever way.

Morning Routine Chart for 4 Years Old

Image
Ever I read from articles online that 4 years old kids are sucker for routine. That made me decided to make routine charts. My sentiments tell me routines are very important, so they are not confused. It is not easy to have a fix one at home because of our irregular working hours but I know I have to start from somewhere. Thus, I made a simple one, using his photos thinking that he can relate better.  It sparked a little friendly debate in one of my whatsapp groupchats with a group of good friends. One of them felt this is military, and thought they should understand it eventually. I thought I was the least military style parents in town! As I explained how it helps me to make my morning rush so much smoother, then it also made me realize, what is there for him to understand? There is no complication here at all, isn't it? It's like you give them puzzle, they have difficult fixing it at the beginning. As you leave them alone to play with it more often, they start to be...

One after another.

Image
I wanted to share a little about a new purchase a week ago. However, I am a little drained now to be writing some sort of review. On the following week of Lucas recovering from his week old fever, it attacked Leanne. It also came with swelling red eyes with discharge and a serious blocked nose. She's not the medication friendly baby, unlike Lucas, and she will fought all her might to not take any medication. Threatens and bribery did not work AT ALL! At one point, she starts to cover her eyes with her tiny little not-so-fat-anymore hands when she saw me coming with eye drop. Lol! She is much clingy and needs more carrying. And whenever I am around, she only demands for me! She must be very uncomfortable when it got to a point she refused to eat and drink except water. Foodie ah Fat rejecting Food and Milk! You read that. Finally, we brought her to see our favorite PD today. She didn't find anything else except both of her very red eyes. Just a short nap after a visit to the...

My Preschooler

Image
We have been facing some challenges on handling Lucas behavior lately. He threw tantrums and whines easily. He swept books off from the shelves. When asked to sit on a chair, he lied flat under a chair. He does trial and errors in every situation possible. Like every concerned parents, we asked, read and seek advises for how we can manage better. It could only be a phase but more often, but we really  felt that we are losing it. Because my intuition tells me it's more than just a phase. A friend shared from a book: a child's desire for independence come too soon: before they are able to see what is really happening around them; before they are able to appreciate the consequences of their actions; and before they have the skills to manage and negotiate their way through difficult situations, they have a tendency to "try to run before they walk" in many areas of their lives. And because they seem so able and mature, parents often let them make decisions for themselv...

Penning down his words.

Image
He is growing up too fast. I need to write down whatever he said, before I forget the cutesy of every things he said. 1. Leanne was crying hysterically in the car.  Lucas: Leanne wants 抱抱! Mummy: Leanne needs to know we cannot carry her in the car. Lucas: but she doesn't know how to walk yet! 2. Aunty: what Christmas present do you want? Lucas: I have many toys at home already. No need. No need.  3. On a grouchy morning. Lucas: why you always wake me up? You huh.. Always wake me up. 4. He was sick in bed. Mummy n Leanne too. He woke up from nap to tell papa: I want to take care of Leanne and mummy. 5. Hubby made a slightly stronger brake in the car.  Lucas: papa, you need to drive carefully ok? Later taxi bang you. (Post accident trauma) 6. I will never forget how he was holding a big shark soft toy that was bigger than him, following behind me and talking non stop to try to convince me to buy it for him. At some point, I had to tell ...

Night shift getting too early

Image
What am I doing here at this hour? The little girl just finish fussing for close to 2 hours. Yeah... At this time. Such a b***h look. Lol....  Good night sweet heart. No matter how you are getting onto my nerves, I will still love you. 😘

I miss them so so much....

One unlucky case. Many grateful moments.

Image
The ONE unlucky thing that happened to me was, my $300 was stolen. (Imagine my devastating face?) Yes! I met a thief. However, I really appreciate the MANY little things that were going around me.  Considerate neighbour even when they are strangers, making sure I pressed the right level button as I was carrying lots of barang (Lucas's bag, Leanne's bag, my bag, groceries from the in laws and a box from iherb). A very service oriented taxi driver who greeted his passenger politely, checking with them if the aircon temperature is comfortable, offer sweets and gave a packet of tissue as part of his service. How not to write him a complimentary letter?  Met a 63 years old lady who is so sweet to buy me barley water and snacks for tea.  Lost and found my handphone after I left it in the toilet! Really thankful to the students who saw me running to the toilet and came back to look for me. I gave them big bear hugs! And yet again, many nice n sweet pe...

Leanne first solid at week 19.

Image
Unlike her brother, she is always in idle mode. You could say she is zen. Nothing really appeals to her or makes her excited. She does not try to reach out or jerk her hands and legs when she gets excited. She only gazes from left to right to left, up and down. No sign of flipping. And her sleeping position has been the same. Not a very active baby indeed. Lol. Her brother beat her down in every milestone except that she can hold her head up right earlier. She also salivated more, cries more and needs carried more. Haha...  Since her neck was quite strong, I started her on a little cereal. Did she like it? Totally expressionless. Can't decide she liked it or not, so will try again a week later.  Though a more handful baby, but we are enjoying every precious changing moment. Oh my god... Babyhood is sweetness... I am sure going to miss this...

10th week

Image
She coos and smiles. She enjoys when someone talks to her. She gets excited with the mobile toys on her rocker. She needs lots of cuddling, walking and rocking to sleep. She sleeps well in the night. She naps best in the carrier. She is 6kg. She caught virus and falls sick for the first time :(. She loves her brother. (How do we know? Because she always has her eyes on him whenever he is there.) Oh Leanne, you are such a sweetie.

A quick greeting!

Hello! I logged in to say H I ! I survived! I have been longing to write something but I get too exhausted that I make use of good time to catch up with Zzzz... Its like war at back home. It's gets a little sweet some day. I will be back on more..

Christmas Wish for Going Home Soon

Image
We are still hoping for early discharge, even if its a day earlier than expected. It saddens to hear him crying to go home. It pains to see that he has to be poked yet we are not allowed to be there. And it really breaks the heart to hear his cries for us yet we can't do much. The drip on his right hand was due for a change. And now they have to switch it to the left hand. He was still very happy clenching and opening his fist to feel his fingers and who knows his left was being all wrapped up again. He was sad and could see he was in deep thoughts not sure what's on his mind. I spend some time google about the illness when he was napping. Pneumonia can be life threatening if its not well treated or there are complication during recovery. While Lucas's condition was not that bad, however his test results reflected were far away from the preferred range. His file has been transferred back to his original PD. She then further explain to us what's shown on the x-ray....

December 2012.

Image
The week has been good and bad. The bad is Lucas started to have high fever that went up to as high as 40.2 degrees celsius from last Sunday and it did not go away till we decided to send him to the hospital on Wednesday. The pediatrician was quick to diagnose him with pneumonia and was confirmed with a blood and x-ray. He has to be warded for 6 days since then. The hubby and I have been rotating shifts to keep the boy accompany. He has been brave so far with needles poking and very cooperative with the nurses and doctor. A little grouchy at times, which can be understood. Getting sick of the hotel room, which he really thought he was on a holiday, and crying to go home everyday. His condition has improved alot. Hopefully he can be discharged earlier. However, this December was still a great one. We attended a few parties and he got to play with all his friends. So glad for that.  Not only the children, the adults were in joy to see so many presents.  Anothe...
